Question:

How do I issue a claim in the Employment Tribunal?

Answer:

If you’re not using legal representation, you can issue legal proceedings on line by visiting the site for Employment Tribunals at www.employmenttribunals.gov.uk/ and by following the detailed guidance and forms on their site.

Remember:

·         Claims should normally be received by the Employment Tribunal no later than three months less a day from the date of dismissal / the date of the last act complained of. This is a very important time limit to observe, especially in unfair dismissal claims.

·         It is advisable to exhaust any internal grievance or appeal procedures if you can before you issue a Tribunal claim, and if you do not do so, a Tribunal award may be reduced by up to 25%.
